Qualifications

High School diploma or GED.
Qualifying Certificate in Food Protection and a Culinary certificate, required.
Minimum of five (5) years experience with food service cooking i.e. hotels, restaurants, and hospitals, required.
Experience with all kitchen related equipment and demonstrated knife cutting skills, required.
Ability to follow directions and be a team player and work independently without supervision, required.
Strong organizational skills, leadership skills and verbal and written communication skills, required.

Job Description

As a First Cook you will cook and prepare all items on the menu in a timely fashion as per recipe specifications. Oversee daily work of Cook Helpers so as to assure quality of food being prepared for the patients.

Responsibilities Include: *
Cooks and prepares all items on menu in a timely fashion as per recipe specifications.

Delegates daily work between self and cook's helper.

Assures quality of food being prepared during shift such as taste, look, and temperature.

Assures sanitary standards are upheld by delegating these duties amongst cooks helpers and porters.

Follows up to be sure day dot system (a color coordinated system for freshness and expiration of food) is in place and is being used properly.

Assists other employees, as needed.

Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly workstation.
